KUSHTIA, June 18: Speakers at a seminar here on World Day to Combat Desertification said combined efforts are a must to combat desertification and drought.
They warned that if preventive measures are not taken, the world will have to face serious consequences in near future.
An NGO, SETU, organised the seminar with its Chairperson Shahidullah Sheikh in the chair.
In his welcome speech, Executive Director of SETU M A Quader urged all to come ahead to make the world liveable by saving the nature.
In his lecture as chief guest, Treasurer of Islamic University Kushtia Prof Dr Md Selim Toha said, “If we hurt the nature, it takes revenge. Many areas of the world may turn into deserts due to climate change. Different water bodies have dried up, causing serious damage to the environment.”
